Enjoy Your Victoria Day Long Weekend

In Canada, the celebration of Victoria Day occurs every year on Monday, prior to May 25th

It is the official celebration in Canada of the birthdays of Queen Victoria and Elizabeth ll.

Victoria Day was established as a holiday in Canada West (now Ontario) in 1845, and

became a national holiday in 1901.

Before Victoria Day became a national Holiday, people had celebrated Empire Day,

beginning in the 1890's as Victoria approached her Diamond jubilee in 1897.

Victoria, queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and empress

of India was born on 24th May 1819.

She assended the throne after the death of her uncle George IV in 1837 when she

was only 18.

She ruled until her death in 1901 when her son Edward the VII became King of England.

Have a great weekend everyone.

In Memory Of A Dear Space Friend

Photobucket

It is with great sadness that I have just learned of the sudden passing
of an old space friend Sweet Dee
This is so sudden that I simply cannot come up  with the proper words
right now. I am in disbelief.
Dee was one of the sweetest and loving space friends that I have ever known
and she will be sadly missed by many.
My deepest sympathy goes out to her husband and family.
Rest In Peace Sweet Dee.

UPDATE ON SWEET DEE FROM SHANNON (BLUE)
THANKS SHANNON  FOR LETTING US KNOW.

Bob called me today after the funeral.

He asked me to tell you all this.....

He said that Dee passed away at her computer.

He thought she was asleep because she did that quite often.

He was cooking steaks on the grill and came in to let her know dinner was ready.

He could not get her to respond to him.

He then called 911.

I had talked to her a few hours before that on the phone and she sounded great.

He agreed with me saying that the medicine she was taking was helping her speech.

I even told her that she was sounding so good. She was happy and laughing.

I told him about the messages you all left on her space and he said he would check

it out as soon as he had the chance to rest.

I wuv you all....

Shannon

(BoBo) as Sweet Dee would call me.

Risk

">

To laugh, is to risk playing the fool.

To weep, is to appear being sentimental.

To reach out to another, is to risk involvement

To expose feelings, is to risk exposing our true selves.

To put your ideas, dreams, before the crowd is to risk loss.

To love, is to risk not being loved in return.

To live, is to risk dying.

To hope is to risk despair.

To try at all is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken,

Because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing

The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing.

They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they simply cannot learn,

change, feel, grow, love, live...

Chained by their attitudes they are slaves.

ONLY THE PERSON WHO RISKS IS FREE.

to have goals in life and a drive to suceed

and to surround yourself with the things

and the people that make you happy-

This is Success!"

"Do You Know" Poem written by my friend Pauline

Do you know...

There is no time to give up...

Only  courage to keep going on...

Hope for better tomorrows...

Do you know...

When it's time to move on...

Listen to your heart, it knows...

It will never fail you.

Do you know...

How to tell when somethings over...

When the special thread is broken...

And you feel such emptiness...

Do you know when wonderful things are coming...

It's when your heart starts to sing...

And you keep smiling...

Do you know that some will lie to get their way...

Don't let them crush your spirit...

Just forgive and look away...

Do you know...

when you feel so much despair...

Angels are there

To lift you up, when you think nobody cares...

Do you know...

 When you think your  cross...

Feels too heavy to carry...

God sends help to ease the weight...

Do you know...

 That real love never dies...

It follows you...

 far after life into eternity...

Do you know...

You were born to be happy...

And its never too far away...

Just reach out and it's yours to keep.

Unconditional Love

 Unconditional Love

A treasure to be cherished,

A gift from God above;

is the beauty of a friendship,

Touched by unconditional Love.

A Love that asks no questions,

Believes in all the best;

Never doubting, ever trusting,

Withstanding any test.

A Love that weathers any storm,

And yet that love still stands;

Through the very darkest hour.

It still reaches out a hand.

There in that hand the sweetest gift,

That you can give a friend;

A heart that cares, a Love that shares,

That will be there till the end.

A treasure to be cherished,

A gift from God above;

Is what I share with you my friend,

An unconditional Love.

The Clock Of Life

The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth is sad indeed,
To lose one's health is more,
To lose one's soul is such a loss
That no man can restore.

The present only is our own,
So Live, Love, toil with a will --
Place no faith in 'Tomorrow' --
For the clock may then be still.

"People never know how special someone is until they leave,

but maybe sometimes its important to leave,

so they are given that chance to see how special that someone really is!"

I tried to change the background on this entry to brighten it up

and in the process, lost of the wonderful comments you left yesterday.

I'm so sorry about that. I'll post another entry soon.

I'm on a borrowed pc for now but I'll try and get on whenever I can.

A Strong Woman

A Strong Woman is...

one who feels deeply

and loves fiercely,

Her tears flow

just as abundantly

as her laughter.

A Strong Woman...

is both soft and powerful.

She is both

practical and spiritual.

A Strong Woman is...

in her essence

is a gift to all the world.

Anything Is Possible

.

If there was ever a time to dare,

to make a difference,

to embark on something worth doing,

IT IS NOW.

Not for any grand cause, necessarily. . .

but for something that tugs at your heart,

something that's your inspiration,

something that's your dream.

You owe it to yourself

to make your days here count.

HAVE FUN.

DIG DEEP.

STRETCH.

DREAM BIG.

Know, though, that things worth doing seldom come easy.

There will be good days.

And there will be bad days.

There will be times when you want to turn around,

pack it up,

and call it quits.

Those times will tell you

that you are pushing yourself,

that you are not afraid to learn by trying.

PERSIST.

Because with an idea,

determination,

and the right tools,

you can do great things.

Let your interests,

your intellect,

and your heart,

guide you.

TRUST.

Believe in the incredible power of the human mind.

Of doing something that makes a difference.

Of working hard.

Of laughing and hoping.

Of lazy afternoons.

Of lasting friends.

Of all the things that will cross your path this year.

The start of something new

brings the hope of something great,

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

~Author Unknown~

"The three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something

to do, something to love and something to hope for".

Spring

A garden of asters of varying hues,

Crimson pinks and violet blues,

Blossoming in the lazy fall

Wrapped in Autumn's lazy pall.

But early frost stole in one night,

And like a chilling, killing blight

It touched each pretty aster's head,

And now the garden's still and dead.

And all the lovely flowers that bloomed

Will soon be buried and entombed

In winter's icy shroud of snow;

But oh, how wonderful to know

That after winter comes the spring

To breathe new life in everything.

And all the flowers that fell in death

Will be awakened by springs early breath...

For in God's plan both men and flowers

Can only reach "bright, shining hours"

By dying first to rise in glory

And prove again the Easter story.

~Helen Steiner Rice~

" Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our

hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how

much we have we will not be happy... because we will

always want to have something else or something more".

" My true friend is he who loves me for what I am

and not for what I outwardly have."

Easter Holiday

Easter holiday, is a celebration of the resurrection of Christ!

Jesus Christ, The Son Of God, bled and died for us in a sacrifice.

This spring day's celebrated, generally in the month of april.

All of the bright and pretty colors, of the Easter outfits with frills.

Women and children will wear their Easter bonnets.

In the Spring, you'll hear the various musical sonnets.

April will bring many rain showers.

That'll bring us various beautiful flowers.

One special flower for this day is the Easter Lily.

It's color is white, and yet snowy and milky.

The birds will sing their songs of praise,

As we begin to feel the warmth of the sun's rays.

As we say "Goodbye" to the winter's gloom,

The flowers and trees have already begun to bloom.

All of life's beauty, The Lord created, for us all to share.

Spring Breezes begin to flow, sending fragrances through the air.

The winter's thawing will let the rivers, lakes, and streams rise and flow.

The beauty of the earth will make us all feel aglow!

Farmers and gardeners will start to hoe.

And then they'll begin to sow.

On Sundays, we'll hear the various church bells ring.

Let's be grateful for the LORD, let's rejoice and sing.

If it wasn't for the Lord, we wouldn't have anything!
